Get Jealous: Watch These Guys Drift a 760 HP Challenger

By -

Just ignore the commentary and focus on the car.

Dodge has no problem stuffing some of the most powerful engines in American history into their cars nowadays. But some owners want to do it their way. That’s why today we have the pleasure of watching this supercharged Challenger SRT 392 get thrown around the track.

This supercharged Challenger 392 puts out 760 horsepower.

Now, if you’re a die-hard Mopar fan (you’re on DodgeForum, so you probably are), you might find this video a little tough to watch. Not because there’s any Challenger abuse going on that we wouldn’t condone. But because the boys at Lone Star Drift don’t seem to be up on their homework when it comes to American Iron.

After opening with “Sweet Home Alabama” blaring while the Challenger gets hooned around corners, the host blurts out: “Some dude is gonna let Harrison Johnson drift his… I think it’s a Challenger?”

It really doesn’t get any more illuminating than that. Peering under the hood at a gloriously large supercharger, the guys don’t provide any real insight. Instead, they point at things and say “I assume that that isn’t stock.” After some discussion between the two, it’s clear that neither has talked to the owner much. They don’t know how much the build cost. Or how much horsepower it makes. They don’t know how much it weighs either. Or even what engine the car has (hint: It has 392 badges on the fenders).

But none of that matters once Johnson throws the six-speed manual car around Harris Hill track. For a driver that admittedly doesn’t handle this much car very often, he does a great job keeping it where it needs to go. Plus, we’d take hearing the tires scream over hearing these two talk any day.

After it’s over, Johnson’s thoughts on the car are this: “It was actually pretty good.” We could’ve told him that before he drove it. Still, he compares it to a Demon – well, he says Hellcat, but he also says it has 860 horsepower and 335s on the rear wheels – and says he prefers this modded 392.

We think that this car is amazing. While we loved seeing it get thrown around the track, we’d love to hear more about the car itself. Maybe next time.
