Hellephant – Over 1,000 Crate Horses for Just 28 Grand!

Crazy 1,025 HP Hemi in a crate yours for Just $27,995. What to put it In?
While euphoria reigns around Dodge actually continuing to build gas muscle cars with its new Hurricane biturbo V6 alongside EV versions after all, Hemi V8 fans can also now breathe a sigh of relief. Dodge Direct Connection has just confirmed that the 1,025 horsepower Hemi Hellephant V8 will be sold as a crate engine from early 2024.
The Hellephant, which also powers what was supposed to be the last gas Challenger in the 3,300-off Demon 170, will now also be sold as an off-the shelf crate engine via Dodge Direct Connection. The C170 Hellephant gains a larger 3-litre supercharger breathing through a 105-mm throttle body. Add upgraded pistons, tougher connecting rods, bearings, and a stronger new crankshaft versus a regular blown Hemi lump.

Hellephant: 1025 horsepower and 945 foot-pounds torque
You’ll need to run your Hellephant on E85 fuel to get the full 1025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque out of it. Hellephant will however still stump up a quite respectable 900 HP and 810 lb-ft on pump gas. That is however still not the most powerful Dodge crate engine. The 7-liter A170 Hellephant engine revealed last year makes 1,100 horsepower on E85.
A crate Hellephant V8 complete with its 3-liter supercharger will set you back $27,995. A long-block will cost $18,995 without the blower. Direct Connect has also listed 345 and 392 two long-block versions of the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi Hellcat V8. As well as a pair of ‘Hurricrate’ versions of the Challenger’s forthcoming 3-liter biturbo straight-six.
So, while you won’t get a Dodge V8 muscle car with a from the factory any longer, a powerful new biturbo V6 will live on after all. And the beloved Hemi V8 will live on too, albeit in a selection of in crate engines with enough grunt to power whatever you desire.
