Monstrous Dodge RAM Wins Drag Race, Blows Up First

Drag race

There’s a special place in my heart for diesels. I don’t care about the environmental BS, or the fact that the engines weigh ten-million pounds. The torque you can get from some of these motors is just brilliant, and makes for some epic off-roading and amazing drag racing specials. Some of the best of the latter are lifted trucks boasting well over the stock torque figures.

In the video below, a diesel Dodge RAM demonstrates its tenability and torque when it goes up against a modified Chevy S10. The RAM launches in a cloud of black smoke, and leaves the Chevy in its dust. The RAM then spools up its massive turbo running over 100 psi of boost. The result, 1,173 horsepower and over 2,000lb-ft of torque. All of which is still on the stock block, head, and transmission.

The only problem, the entire thing blows up right before the finish line. After they get the truck back to the pits, you can see it pissing oil. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out. Although technically, he did still win the drag race.
