1954 Dodge M37

A Plymouth Roadrunner 383ci V8 powerplant propels this rugged 1954 Dodge M37 restomod. The 4X4 recently sold for $30,666 on Bring a Trailer.

Dodge M37 is a glorious workhorse, and recently a 1954 example proved that fans around the country share our enthusiasm for this classic off-roader. This 383-powered 1954 dodge M37 was recently sold via the popular auction site Bring a Trailer for $30,666. The truck came into the possession of its previous owner around seven years ago, following which it received a slew of modifications.

Under the hood of this ¾-ton 4X4 pickup truck, we find a 383 cubic inch Plymouth V8 motor. The powerplant hooks up to a 3-speed 727 automatic gearbox which sends power to all four corners via an NP 205 dual-range transfer case. The powerplant was sourced from a Plymouth Roadrunner and rebuilt before it was installed in the Dodge M37.

In addition to an oil pan with custom baffles, the motor also gets a single carburetor. The previous owner replaced the truck’s original voltage regulator, wiring distributor, and points. The bodywork of this M37 flaunts a rugged olive drab paint job. The 4X4 rides on a set of 16.5-inch beadlock wheels, which get an orange finish that offers a striking contrast to the rest of the bodywork.

The rims of this 383-powered 1954 Dodge M37 were sourced from a Hummer H1. A set of 37-inch Goodyear run-flat military-spec tires envelop the rims.

The truck’s last owner also installed rear drum brakes, and the front wheels get power-assisted disc brakes. At the front, this truck gets a narrow differential, and we find a power lock unit at the rear. This truck also rides on a set of Dana 60 axles and has new drive shafts. The odometer of this 1947 Dodge M37 reflects 44,000 miles; however, the actual mileage of this classic pickup truck remains unknown.

We also find a Kirkey bucket seat and the four-spoke steering wheel that hooks up to a Flaming River tilt column inside the cabin. This Dodge M37 also comes with creature comforts like a Vintage Air heater and a tan canvas bench seat. Thanks to its Borgeson power steering, it is quite easy to maneuver this pickup truck over challenging terrain.
