Ram 1500 Lands on Car and Driver‘s New ’10Best’ List
Ram 1500 one of two FCA trucks to make the newly revised list for 2020, takes full-size trophy for second consecutive year.
Now that the last two big shows of the year (SEMA and the Los Angeles Auto Show) have come and gone, it’s time to focus on the big things for the rest of year. Not turkey, shopping, and re-learning the words to “Auld Lang Syne” for the big ball drop. Nope, it’s time to reveal all of the end-of-year top 10 lists, plus more than a few end-of-decade top 10s.
One of the first out of the gate with such a list is Car and Driver. In previous years, the publication had two “10 Best” lists: one for cars, the other for trucks and SUVs. Likely due to changing markets, though, there will only be one 10 Best list for 2020, mixing cars, trucks, and SUVs together for the first time. And one of the ones to make the new list is none other than the Ram 1500.
“The Ram isn’t just the best truck out there; it’s one of the best vehicles,” the publication said. “Its supple ride, rich interior and fluid power delivery elevate it to a place we never thought possible for a pickup.”
The Ram 1500 not only took a spot in the 2020 10 Best list, it also took home the top spot in the Full-Size Pickup category for the second consecutive year; thus, it also appears in the 10Best list for the second consecutive year.
And why not? The Ram 1500 is the best full-size truck around, after all. With the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 under the hood, it can tow up to 12,500 pounds, as well as haul 2,300 pounds in the bed. The truck also has a new eTorque mild-hybrid system for better fuel economy, and the big Uconnect 4C display makes Tesla’s displays jealous.
The Ram 1500 is one of two of FCA’s greatest hits to make the Car and Driver 10 Best 2020 list, the other being the Jeep Gladiator, which enters for the first time as the best mid-size truck around.
Both trucks made the list after going through an extensive, two-week evaluation to determine how well they lived up to their respective promises. A total of 93 vehicles were evaluated for the 2020 list, with the top 10 vehicles appearing in the January 2020 edition of the magazine.
