Ram 1500 Says Goodbye to V8 in 2025, Hello Biturbo Straight-Six

2025 Hurricane Straight Six Has Up To 540 HP
Not everyone will be pleased with this move, which is more in line with the changing auto world than popular opinion. Still, the much-loved 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is gone, meaning that owners wanting more than the humble base model Pentastar V6 must now make do with a pair inline-six engine options. Hemi V8s will still be available as a crate engines.
The new Hurricane straight six-recently made its debut in the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in 420 or 510 horsepower trim. It is also expected to find its way into the next Challenger muscle car. Making 420 horsepower and 469 foot-pounds of torque in base form, the twin-turbocharged 3-liter inline-six is also far more frugal and cleaner burning. Therefor the change from the outgoing 395 HP 410 lb.-ft Hemi.

Hellcat RHO Replaces Hardcore Hemi TRX
Power fans will however be pleased to learn that the high-output Hellcat is rated at 540 HP and 521 lb.-ft of torque. The 30 horsepower gained over the Grand Wagoneer comes courtesy of among other tweaks, an increase in engine speed. All three engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A new Ram 1500 RHO will arrive in the third quarter of 2024 to replace the current TRX V8 It will get the 540 horse high-output Hurricane with all the old truck’s hardcore off-road hardware. Maximum towing capacity is now 11,580 pounds, with maximum payload up to 2300 pounds.

1500 Ramcharger Plug In Hybrid for 2025
Last but not least, the 2025 1500 Ramcharger will be Ram’s first full-size plug-in-hybrid truck. Sharing its platform with the electric Ram 1500 REV, the 663 HP electric all-wheel-drive pickup has a V6 to charge up its 70.8-kWh battery for 145 miles of electric, and 690 miles of combined range. Ramcharger will also carry a 2625-pound payload, and tow 14,000 pounds.
Tell the 2025 Ram 1500 apart by a subtly restyled front end. The grille has grown, while new LED headlamps come standard from Limited trim up. There are some trim changes too. An optional Adaptive Front Lighting System brings twin projector headlamps that turn with the steering up to 15 degrees. The power tailgate can be controlled via the key fob.

Improved Cabin Cosmetics, Infotainment
Cosmetic cabin upgrades see Big Horn and Lone Star grades gain laser etched dashboards, doors, and consoles, and embossed seats. The Rebel has new red-and-black mesh inserts on its cloth and vinyl seats. Limited Longhorn models gain real, open-pore wood veneer.
Improved Uconnect 5 infotainment gets 12.0 or 14.5-inch central touchscreens. A new 10.3-inch passenger screen includes navigation, device, and exterior camera management.
