Ram 1500 TRX VIN #001 Headed to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale
First Ram TRX will be auctioned off with proceeds going to a United Way veterans’ charity.
The first owners of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX have taken delivery of their supercharged super-trucks in the United States and Canada. However, TRX VIN #001 has not been shipped. Instead, the first production unit of the 702-horsepower half-ton will be sold at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction to the highest bidder. The proceeds of this sale will go to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 helpline.
“The award-winning 2021 Ram 1500 TRX bolsters the brand’s strong history of high-performance trucks while expanding the light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis. “When Ram 1500 TRX VIN 001 rolled off the assembly line last month, it instantly became an incredibly exciting one-of-a-kind collectible truck that enthusiasts will clamor for – especially when it goes through the Barrett-Jackson auction lane in March. More importantly, we expect this first production Ram 1500 TRX to raise significant funds that will go directly to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 helpline to provide services to veterans and their families.”
The First Ram 1500 TRX
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX wearing VIN #001 is a Launch Edition model, finished in the unique Anvil Gray exterior paint. Like all Launch Edition models, the truck being auctioned off comes with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, which adds carbon fiber interior trim, color accent package, heads-up display, beadlock-capable wheels, 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, advanced safety group, hood and bodyside graphics. The truck also features the Mopar RamBar, Mopar Rock Rails, a Mopar bed-mounted tire carrier, Trailer Tow Group and Trailer Reverse Steering Control.
This Ram TRX with these features has an MSRP of $96,785. Many people buying these trucks paid some markup, so some of the people who bought a Launch Edition version of the Hellcat-powered pickup paid more than $100,000. The person who buys this truck at the Barrett-Jackson auction will likely pay upwards of a half-million dollars, if not far more. It is hard to estimate the price, as no truck like this has ever been sold at auction. First-unit high performance cars easily fetch between a half-million and a million dollars, with bidders often paying more than usual for charity.
In this case, the charity benefiting from the sale of this Ram 1500 TRX is the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 hotline.
2-1-1 Hotline
All fees will be waved for the auction of the first 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, so all of the proceeds will go directly to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 hotline. This call center provides free, confidential and personalized help to veterans and their families, from food pantries and emergency shelters to education and COVID-19 information, with more than 30,000 resources in their database.
“Ram is giving Barrett-Jackson bidders the unbelievable chance to own VIN 001 of its highly coveted TRX Launch Edition,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Only 702 of these muscle trucks were made available, and all were sold within three hours. Our Scottsdale Auction will be the only place to still get your hands on one of these extreme performance trucks.”
The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction is held from March 21 through 27, but Ram TRX VIN #001 is scheduled to roll across the auction block on Friday, March 26.
