Bodie Ghost Town is a popular destination for off-road adventurers. There are several routes to the historical spot, and while it’s not the most challenging place to get to, it’s a great destination.

Bodie is one of America’s best-preserved ghost towns. In 1859, Watterman S. “Bill” Bodey and E.S. “Black” Taylor discover gold in the hills near Bridgeport. By 1860, the pair forms the Bodey Mining District, which eventually produces over $100,000,000 in gold. It was a rough place, with 60 saloons to go with its school, 3 churches, firehouse and busy morgue.

By 1886, the mines were all but depleted, and by 1932, fires had destroyed many of the buildings. What’s left is well-preserved; there’s even furniture and belongings left in some of the homes. On top of that, there’s still merchandise on the shelves in some of the stores. And to this day, nobody actually knows why the name was changed from Bodey to Bodie.

Victor’s truck looks completely at home rolling across the epic trails. He’s also catching some fantastic scenery from his drone and vehicle-mounted cameras. So, we’re now solid fans of Victor’s and his trek. How could you not admire a guy that commits to a dressing gown on such a rugged adventure?

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars.
