Digital artist Abimelec Arellano gives the Hellcat V8 a cozy blanket of Charger goodness without needing to cut an inch of metal.

For some, the perfect Charger is a fully restored machine. Others prefer a restomod approach, with big wheels and big power in one package. And there are those who cosplay as the Duke Boys with their own “General Lee” replica. And yet, a few prefer a more “sleepy” approach. After all, the Charger already looks badass as is, so why not dress it down a bit, while also pushing the power levels up to 11?

Getting there isn’t easy, though, especially if you want to drop a modern engine under the hood. Unless, of course, you’re like Abimelec Arellano. According to Autoevolution, the digital artist recently dropped his “Sleeper Boy” ’69 Charger on his Instagram, and he didn’t have to cut any metal to get there.

“A ‘69 Charger isn’t like other muscle cars that you can freely cut, chop, paint and put whatever under the hood,” wrote Arellano in the original post. “In my opinion, it is one of the all time greats, it truly is, so it naturally deserves a look that makes it justice […], so I tried to keep it simple but effective.”

He certainly succeeded, beginning with an understated coat of glossy greenish gray paint; matte paint would’ve given the secret away. And though the steelies are restomod size, the chrome dog dish hubcaps draw all the attention away from them to protect the magic within.

The magic is under the hood, of course. Motivating this sleeper Charger is none other than a Hellcat V8. As noted in a previous post, installing the 707-horsepower V8 is no small task, as it does take a lot of cutting to make it fit, plus a ton of work to make all of the electronics and other things function properly.

The Charger was rendered via an experiment Arellano was working on, involving “some new software functions” he plans to show soon enough. In the meantime, you should check out his Instagram to see more hot Mopar renders, including a Daytona ute, and a Hellcat Charger if it was actually built in 1969.
