Tales From the Block: A 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack

Once a brand-new vehicle rolls out of the factory, it’s bound to live a life of twists and turns. The average vehicle sees multiple owners, states, and maybe even wrecks during its lifetime. For many, the auction block is an inevitable layover.

“Tales from Block” highlights one of the many steps pre-owned vehicles go through in our country. Once the first owner sells or trades-in their ride, it can either be sold at the lot, sent to auction, or even scrapped, if it’s a really crappy one. Cars both expensive and cheap are typically sent to the auction block in hopes of attracting solid buyers. For privacy reasons, we keep the auction house’s, buyer’s, and seller’s names secret, as well as exact dollar amounts.

The lovely 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack we bring you today is a perfect example of just how good Dodge has gotten with the “retro muscle car’ concept. The black paint and honeycomb wheels ooze pure American muscle; it simply looks fast while standing still. As if the bulging body lines weren’t enough, the Scat Pack trim backs things up with a 6.4-liter HEMI, pumping out a massive 485 horsepower to the rear wheels.

Unlike the poor SRT Hellcat we showed you before (which is still sitting on the lot), this badass Challenger went through the block and found a home on its first run. How can it not? With a well-maintained interior, clean exterior, and only 22k miles on the odometer, it was bound to be a quick and profitable sale. The reserve was placed at little over $31 grand, and the buyer snatched it for a tad under that amount. If you ask me, it was an excellent purchase.

One can expect to buy this beautiful black stallion at a reputable dealer for right around $35k, which leads us to believe a dealer markup of around $4k to $5k is within range. That’s not bad, considering this Challenger “stickered” for around $42k – $44k when new.

Another happy buyer, another happy seller, and down the road, another happy Challenger owner. That’s the world of car auctions, where things can go either really good, or really bad!
