The 1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee” is one of the most famous cars of all time, thanks to its key role in the hit television show The Dukes of Hazzard. The ’69 Dodge Charger is worthy of fame all on its own, but watching it soar through the sky certainly didn’t hurt its badass reputation. With absolutely no explanation about why they chose to do it now, Road & Track decided to throw together a quick list of relatively unknown facts about the car. Think you can hang?

For the true enthusiasts, many of these might be old news, but for the casual fan, there’s some pretty interesting stuff. The first fact tells a little secret about the Charger having a few hundred pounds of concrete in the trunk for the famous jump, apparently because it was nose-diving during the first few attempts. Another fact tattles on one of the cast members crashing one of the Chargers, and the production crew actually ended up putting the scene in the show.
