Viper VCA Edition Is a ‘Thank You’ to Enthusiasts

VCA Edition SRT10

Special edition cars often come out to celebrate the past, but the VCA edition Gen 3 Viper celebrated current Viper Club of America members.

Only 50 VCA Edition 3rd generation Vipers have been made. And no, that wasn’t a myss-type. If you’ve never heard of the VCA edition Viper, we don’t’ blame you. It’s not a very famous Viper, and doesn’t have the notoriety of the ACR, for instance, but the Viper Club of America edition of our favorite snake is a “thank you” of sorts to you, the enthusiasts according to MoparInsiders.

To clarify, there’s two VCA Vipers, and the coupe was only available in 2006. Like the convertible the year prior, only 50 VCA coupes were made. Unlike the yellow convertible, all 50 coupes were painted Viper Red clear coat, according to the Viper Registry. But it wasn’t just the red paint that was unique to this car. Red with Stone White stripes was only used on the VCA Edition.

A red backed Viper logo was used both on the hood and the steering wheel, and other decals were placed on the exterior. Of the 50 lottery-picked owners, the interior had unique red stitching to award their prize. A great reminder that a car company thought your club was important enough to acknowledge with a limited edition. Porsche doesn’t even do that.

Mechanically, the VCA Edition is identical to the SRT10. 8.3 liters of volume deliver 510 horsepower and 525 lb/ft of torque, which is impressive today, let alone for a car released 15 years ago. And now that many years on, we’ll be able to see if the VCA badging holds any water. This car is headed to Mecum’s Dallas auction, and is in collector condition with under 2,100 miles on the odometer.

Value could be higher than most expect. Bring-A-Trailer had a VCA Viper sell last year in excess of $110,000 though it had delivery mileage. Yes, this car’s mileage is low at 2,000 miles, but the BAT example had just 130. Still, we expect this VCA Viper will edge very close to the $100,000 mark with ease. They are a low production example, and rarely come up for sale. Plus we have a feeling with the recent switch to EV power, classic Dodge muscle like the Viper will naturally appreciate as an asset.
