Titan-DS: Dodge Ram Armored Police Vehicle Eats Hand Grenade Blasts

Titan-DS

When you are building something as extreme as the Titan-DS you need a tough platform. So, naturally Inkas Vehicles chose the Dodge Ram.

A Dodge Ram 5500 is a serious truck right from the factory. When you have big, tough jobs to do, you want a Ram 5500 under you. But when the bullets start to fly, and stuff is getting real you need to ramp up the protection a bit. That is where the Titan-DS from Inkas Vehicles comes in. It is a fully armored vehicle that is used by police departments around the world. It says something about the inherit toughness of the Dodge Ram. Inkas could have chosen any vehicle to base this armored beast on, but they went with the Ram.

A video of the Titan-DS was recently uploaded to the Supercar Blondie YouTube channel. In this video we get a detailed walkaround of this beast of a truck and everything that goes into transforming it from a Ram 5500 into a Titan-DS. As you can probably tell by the pictures, a lot of changes have been made. But in some ways, you might be surprised to see just how much Dodge Ram remains in this extreme duty vehicle.

Outside

There are lights everywhere on this thing. Emergency flashing lights as well as plenty of flood lights to light any situation you may find yourself in. The tires are run flats of course. The Titan-DS is painted in what is called black Raptor Paint. It looks like what you would expect to see on a stealth fighter. As you know the best defense is a good offense so there are gun ports all around the sides and rear of the vehicle. And up top there is a rotating gun turret that you can mount the machine gun or rocket launcher of your choice to. The truck also has twin fuel tanks which give the vehicle a driving range of up to 500 miles. Although the cost to fill this thing up would probably melt your credit card.

Cargo Area

The cargo you are likely to haul in the Titan-DS is your security team. And you can fit ten of them in the back. There are the aforementioned gun ports all around and a special ventilation system. Should noxious fumes surround the vehicle, this system will pump in fresh air from onboard air tanks. The floor meets STANAG Level 2 protection standards. So, if you happen to roll over a couple of hand grenades you can go about your merry way. There are also a couple of easy to access escape ports in the roof should you need to quickly exit the truck.

Troop carrier

It’s a Ram

All of this customization makes the Titan-DS look nothing like a stock Ram 5500 on the outside. But if you make your way to the cockpit, guess what? It is basically a stock Ram cabin up there. Inkas did this to make the vehicle as simple to learn and drive as possible. If you know how to drive a Ram 5500 then you can jump right in and drive this. Another Ram carry over is the engine. It retains the Cummins 6.7L turbo diesel with a simple tune. The coil/leaf springs, shock absorbers, and sway bars have been upgraded as well. But other than that, this beast is essentially a Ram 5500.

See it in Action

The video below shows this Mad Max looking truck driving around in the dessert of Dubai, which is where these vehicles are made. And while it is a big, lumbering, armored vehicle it can still hit 100 mph if you need to make a speedy retreat. Let us know what you think of this truck in the Dodge Forum forums.
