Twin-turbo Viper Makes Devastating Power On Dyno

By -

Twin-turbo Viper’s turbos are about the size of your head and force-feed this V10 to nearly 3,000 horsepower at the wheels.

Have you ever seen a dyno number that just seems impossible? This is going to be one of those times, undoubtedly. As if the V10 powering a Dodge Viper wasn’t quite crazy enough, the owner of this car, Sal Patel, decided to push it right up to the line of insanity. Then, though, he spits on the line and keeps going for miles and miles. This car is an absolute madhouse.

In a recent video posted by Joe Simpson, you can see this absolute monster do its thing on a hub dyno. One of the craziest parts of this video is the fact that they found a dyno that reads high enough for this absurd number. Right off the bat, this monster puts down a whopping 2,014 wheel horsepower. Though, that number is far from where this beast stops.

Now, this Viper is not new to making enormous power. According to Motor Authority, this beast has been vacuuming the atmosphere into a set of 90 mm turbos for quite some time now. It has a Powerglide transmission and has set all kinds of records. For example, it ran a 234.86 mph half-mile pass, which is absolutely frightening. What is even more frightening, though, is the fact that this twin-turbo Viper is a streetcar. Make no mistake; this car drives on the road. Pretty insane considering it has a handful of six-second quarter-mile passes and traps well into the 200 mph range. All while still on independent rear suspension. It was, in fact, the first IRS car to make it into the sixes.

If we are talking frightening, though, we have to bring up Patel’s crash in this very car. Halfway down the track, the car took a sharp left turn and planted straight into the wall. This didn’t stop Patel and crew, though. Instead, they built it better than ever.

Sal Patel 6 second twin turbo 3,000 horsepower Dodge Viper

The final number we see in this video is 2,872 horsepower. Again, we feel we have to reiterate. That is not a typo. This twin-turbo viper makes almost 3,000 horsepower at the wheels. We can only imagine what a ridiculous fight it must be to get this thing down the track.

We can’t wait to see the numbers this beast puts down on the track this coming season. A round of applause, Mr. Patel, because the amount of dedication into this build combined with the cajones to sit behind the wheel and take control of this power is unreal.
