Gas Monkey Garage blessed this rare Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger with a pair of turbos, giving it the power to match its cool factor.

Of the many “Last Call” muscle car variants Mopar churned out as a way to say goodbye to the outgoing Charger and Challenger as we know them, the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger was arguably one of the coolest, if not the coolest of the bunch. Heck, just the Swinger moniker is a historic name in itself, having previously been used on a variety of Mopar models from the glory days. The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger did a nice job of marrying the vintage vibe of those rides with the brand’s naturally-aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi V8, though that model produces “only” 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque from the factory.

That may be enough for some, and given the fact that just 1,000 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger models were built in total for the car’s Last Call run, not many will likely be modified or perhaps even driven a ton – these are collector items, after all. However, the folks at Gas Monkey Garage don’t worry about such things, and have proceeded to slap a pair of turbos on their own Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger, which they’re now giving away via a sweepstakes.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that in this spec, GMG’s Swinger is one of less than 200 built with a manual gearbox and the Shaker hood, along with various other options and its blazing green paint. Regardless, Gas Monkey took this rare Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Swinger and blessed it with a pair of turbochargers from Hellion, which is a straight bolt-on application, making it more appealing for the future owner since they can easily return the car to stock if or when desired.

That one simple addition resulted in some impressive power gains – as it now stands, this Challenger Swinger pumps out right around 700 horsepower, which obviously makes it far more fun to drive. However, Gas Monkey Garage didn’t stop there, and also added some revised suspension goodies designed to work in harmony with the factory line lock and beefy Brembo brakes, coupled with a set of 20×11-inch “Gold School” wheels. Overall, it’s a seriously cool build, and one could easily argue that it’s probably close to what Dodge should have done with the Challenger Swinger from the factory, at least, in terms of blessing it with more power to go along with its sweet retro looks.
