Time Travel Tuesday: We Love These Viper-iffic ’90s Dealership Photos
We don’t think we’ve ever seen so many Viper examples in one place at one time.
Facebook might be getting you down lately, but it doesn’t have to. If you know where to look, there are a ton of awesome communities that are packed with cool photos and information for car enthusiasts like us. One of our favorite recent finds is the Old Dealership Pictures group. In that group, folks who used to work at car dealerships share old photos of their old workplaces. One of our favorite recent posts had some truly excellent Mopar content, such as this Viper menagerie from the ’90s.
As soon as we saw it, we knew we had to share it with you.
These photos, posted by group member Brook Solway, show Fitzgerald Dodge in Laconia, New Hampshire, back in 1997. As you can see, it was a dangerous place in those days, as the dealership was positively crawling with Vipers.
Timeless Photos
We hope you’ll excuse the bad joke. According to the poster, Fitzgerald Dodge sold more Vipers than any dealership in the world at one point. We were unable to corroborate that claim, and one commenter states that that title has belonged to Roanoke Dodge of Roanoke, Illinois since the beginning.
However, other group members chime in to state that they recalled seeing ads for Fitzgerald Dodge in the back pages of DuPont Registry back in the day. One thing is for sure – they must have sold a lot of Vipers indeed, given how many were in inventory when these photos were taken.
We’re far from experts when it comes to the dealer side of the car business. However, if our limited experience has taught us anything, it’s that dealers absolutely will not stock any car they don’t think they can sell. We counted a dozen Vipers in one photo. That’s quite a vote of confidence on the part of the dealer. We’ve been to actual Viper meets with fewer cars in attendance.
Growing up in that decade, we can imagine what a thrill these sights must have been for the kids of Laconia, New Hampshire back in 1997. We’re glad that someone took the time to snap a few photos and preserve the memory. Heck, we’re still excited about these photos as full-grown adults.
