It could be the deal of the decade: a 2006 Dodge Viper for less than $30k. Imagine, getting your dream car for just a little more than a 2016 Dodge Caravan. The wife won’t care, we’re sure, once you tell her it’s a Viper. Well, not until you have to bring it home and you have to explain why it’s on a flatbed. As they say: it’s always the details that get you.

So, how do you get a Dodge Viper for about $23,000? Well, you get it without an engine. But you do get the T56 driveshaft and differential. That’s not the only good news, as it comes with a full set of Kooks headers and matching exhaust. However, the car was crashed in the rear and comes with a rebuild title, but there was no frame damage.

You know, it still isn’t a bad deal as Jalopnik‘s “Tavarish” Hernandez points out: “Graciously, thanks to the interchangeability between the Viper and the Ram SRT-10, there exist a plethora of engines ripe for the choosing, in both the earlier 8.3 and later 8.4 liter displacements, starting at around $6000 for a running example with all the fixings, a few grand more if you want low mileage and a warranty.”

So, for almost exactly the price of a Grand Caravan that is nicely kitted out, you could have owned a Viper and picked up an engine to put into it. By “could have,” we mean you missed out; the auction ended with a sold price of $16,100. What a deal!
