Watch This Calvo Dodge Viper Spit Flames, Lay Down 3,300 HP on Dyno
A twin-turbocharged Dodge Viper build from Calvo Motorsports puts on a show while it shows off some truly incredible power.
By now, more than one specialty shop has discovered that with the right parts and tune, a Dodge Viper can make seriously amazing power, which is precisely what we’ve seen over and over again in recent years. Many of these twin-turbocharged monsters come from Calvo Motorsports in out of Austin, Texas, which has forged a reputation for building some of the most powerful and high-performing Vipers not the planet. That list includes this insane twin turbocharged Calvo Dodge Viper, which recently hit the dyno for a pretty dramatic test session, as we can see in this video from Goobers Garage.
Unfortunately, the video doesn’t cover all of the modifications that have taken place on this particular Calvo Dodge Viper, outside of its twin Garrett 88mm turbos. However, it’s likely equipped with Calvo’s CMFTW Package, which is capable of churning out over 3,000 wheel horsepower and includes a built billet block, forged internals, and a host of other serious hardware. We say that because in this video, it lays down that kind of power with ease.
With the Viper’s exhaust pipes spitting flames like it was designed to do that, the car puts out an astounding 3,317 horsepower and 2,307 pound-feet of torque, incredible figures at the crank, let alone the wheels, as is the case here. Similar builds have run easy seven-second quarter-mile passes, with some even breaking into the sixes – absolutely bonkers performance for a street car, no matter how you slice it.
Of course, cars like this are also very well-suited to events like TX2K, where they have a bit more space to stretch their legs and use all of those thousands of horsepower. That’s precisely where we typically see twin turbo Vipers, Lamborghinis, and other crazy power exotics, and this Dodge Viper would be right at home there.
It’s unclear if those are the intentions Goobers Garage has with their amazing new ride, but one thing’s for sure – it’s pretty difficult and dangerous to enjoy these types of cars on public roads, because they’re just so ridiculously fast. Their real home is on a long, straight piece of tarmac, where we can explore the true limits of this incredible platform.
