2018 Jeep Trackhawk

No amount of camo can disguise the fact that this 2018 Jeep Trackhawk is one of the quickest Jeeps you will ever see.

The 2018 Jeep Trackhawk is a riot. A big, loud, fast, and powerful SUV that makes no logical sense. That is exactly why so many people love it. But the example you see here is not just any Trackhawk. This one has been turned up to 11. Actually, it might make more sense to say it has been turned down to 9. Because this camouflaged Jeep affectionately known as “CamoHawk” can rip down the quarter-mile in the low 9 second range with a trap speed of over 150 mph. And this not stripped out drag car. This SUV still tips the scales at about 5,600 pounds.

This week’s “Wicked Wednesday” is all about this 2018 Jeep Trackhawk. It is owned by Mike from Sinister Performance Club. The folks from the That Racing Channel YouTube channel recently caught up with Mike and posted a video showing what this Jeep can do. It might not be the most capable off-road Jeep, but it might be the quickest Jeep you have ever seen. And when we say quick, we mean 0 to 60 in 2.0 seconds quick. And it sounds every bit that fast when you first hear this thing start up. Let’s take a closer look.

Mystery Power Levels

With the times this Jeep is capable of the actual horsepower numbers are almost irrelevant. Mike thinks it is in the 1,300-horsepower range. However, it is usually tuned on the street or the track, so there are no firm dyno numbers backing it up. But do a little math.

How much power do you think you would need to rocket a 5,600-pound SUV down the quarter mile in 9.2 seconds at 154 mph? If your answer is “a lot” then you are on the right path. If the dyno showed 500 horsepower or 5,000 it would not really matter. The fact is this Jeep can smoke almost anything it comes up against. And it has the trophies to prove it.

Engine

Chute Handle

Step inside this insane Jeep and you will notice, well, you will notice very little. It looks like a standard 2018 Jeep Trackhawk inside. Except for the chute handle next to the cup holders. There was no parachute option on the stock Jeep.

But when you travel at these speeds, you need all the help you can get to slow down. The really fun modifications are hidden in the center console. Lift the lid and will see the controls needed for the aftermarket systems hooked up to the SUV. Intercooler ice box, fuel cell, and switch to arm the nitrous are among some of the goodies you will find. Hidden in the cargo area is the ice box itself, the nitrous outlet, custom ice box, are where you would normally expect to see a spare tire or an empty storage bin.

No Nitrous Pulls

Low timing and no nitrous is the setup for the first demo pull. Even without any spray the Jeep rockets forward with a speed and force that is not something you would ever expect from any SUV. It is not fast for an SUV. It is fast full stop. Even with the all-wheel-drive and sticky tires there was still some wheel spin as the Jeep launched forward. Now it is time to turn up the juice.

Nitrous

Hit the Gas

The Fast and Furious movies have confused a lot of people about nitrous and what it can and can’t do. It might not be able to live up to the movie hype but there is no doubt that it can bring a huge performance benefit. And on the second pass when this Jeep is on the spray the difference is dramatic. The Jeep is sitting still on the road one second and the next, poof! It is GONE.

Street Jeep

The crazy thing is, this Jeep can run 9s but also be driven quite comfortably on the street. The rear seats are removed in the video, but they can be put back in. Once done, this Jeep can transport five people in air-conditioned comfort. And if you find yourself lined up at a stoplight at against just about any Ferrari you can walk away from it.
