Superchips Questions and Updates
OK guys, I got to take out the new beta programming from SC for a little test drive today. Unfortunately it was raining so I wasn’t able to really get into the throttle hard but I did get a chance to work through the program a little bit along with getting a feel for how it works on my truck and the effects it has on drivability.
User Interface: Adjusting the parameters was pretty easy. Really, it is no different than changing the WOT shift points with the basic tuning. You go into whatever menu you want to adjust, slide the scale to the value you want and then save it. I will be honest, when I heard about all the different parameters we can now adjust I was a little worried that working through the different screens would be overwhelming. It was quite the opposite, it is very user friendly and straight forward.
PT Shift Point Adjustment: There are a few different tables that can be adjusted, but I only started working on the upshift schedule bc I want to go through one at a time and get it where I want it before moving on to the next schedule. Luckily Sil was nice enough to send me a schedule to start off with as a baseline so I had somewhere to start out with my adjustments. I was able to choose each of the upshifts 1 up, 2 up, 3 up and 4 up and make adjustments to exactly what speed I wanted the truck to shift at for a given throttle position. In a word, this feature is awesome. Shift point adjustment gave me total control over how my truck reacted up through all the gears. Personally, I like my truck to hold the gears longer and shift at higher speeds (I will make a chart for later use of what shift points I set it at) so I went through and set it to do exactly that. Took the truck for a ride and decided I wanted first to hold a little longer, so I went back into the shift schedule, made the change and bam, instantly had the result I wanted. I was able to do the same thing with all the other upshifts too. Now this was just my first day with this programming so there is still a lot that I need to adjust but even now the truck is reacting like a totally different vehicle. When Sil told us that we would have total control he wasn’t kidding. You can literally control every shift your truck makes. I am planning on working on more of the shift schedules this weekend. I will keep you posted.
Torque Management Adjustment: Again, the TM adjustment is sweet. I was able to go into the TM adjustment scale and pick any amount of TM I wanted, from 0 – 100%. I figured I would start out at what I thought would be a safe amount, so I lowered it to 20% TM. This made the shifts feel better; they were fast and firm but still not quite as firm as I wanted. So I went back and lowered it even further, this time to 10%. This setting felt really good. Fast, firm shifts throughout the gears at part throttle. Wasn’t able to take it for any full throttle runs bc of the weather so maybe tomorrow if it clears up. The truck now pulls right through the shift without the lag that is felt when TM used to kick in. I am planning on trying TM at 0% at some point to see how it feels, I’ll let you know how that goes.
So in a nutshell, the new programming rocks and was 10000000% worth waiting for. I will test it out some more this weekend and try to give you guys as much info as I can about how the truck reacts, how the truck feels and maybe even post up some graphs from dynolicious if I can bc the one feature shows a graph of how long the shifts take.

So Sil, just to clear things up . . . now that it's the fabled 04's turn to work out the kinks (if there are any
). What's left on the to-do list of years ? And as stated,
Will these go through the years as well . . . or a whole shot with a few testers ? Or better yet, is all this being tested with 4.7's in mind and us not having to worry about testing ?
Me waiting to hear back - - - >
