venge dies randomly
Hey once again Silver bet your tired of seeing me. I fixed the miss as you know. Well right after that my map sensor died. Quick question did you know that an auto tranny will not work at all if the battery terminal loses connection. My terminal actually broke. Then the IAC and the EGR solenoid gos out and it flooded and I fouled my plugs. While changing my plugs 2 of the boots on the bottom of the spark plug wires broke of and I had to make a hook thing out of a clothes hanger to dig them out ang put new wires on it. Talk about crappy luck lately but having 192,000 miles on it and me having that wreck abouta month ago I guess I can expect it. My problem is that sometimes when I start the car it runs for about 5 seconds then goes dead. It has been happening for along time but worse here lately. Today I actually got it in gear and drove about 20 feet and it died. The car runs fine it just completely shuts off but I can start it up and it will do fine. I think its the ASD relay but I thought I would ask before I changed it.Thanx for all your help and listening to my griping.
I don't mind answering questions at all, so don't worry about that.
Changing out thatASD relay wouldn't hurt or cost much. It's one of the first things I say nowadays, lol. As old as our cars are getting, something simple like that is usually missed. Make sure that you can hear the fuel pump prime too.
The fusible links are a good idea too BV. Both the battery link and alternator link should be hot at all times, they should also read the same voltage whether the car is on or off.
Once power gets too low, the computers stop running and that includes the Transmission Control Unit. I've had my car die on me because of a bad voltage regulator, the ECU didn't have enough power from the battery and the alternator wasn't charging it so it just died. All the sensors give erroneous info to the ECU and the computer tries to fix it by doing it's normal thing...add more gas, remove the gas, etc. Kind of like when you release the gas pedal or step on it...more voltage, more fuel and vice versa, but minus the battery power, lol. Plus the electronics just shut off without proper voltage.
Make sure the battery connections aren't corroded either.
