Default Adding a second exhaust pipe on a Dodge Avenger.

Can I turn the exhaust on my 2000 Dodge Avenger from a single exhaust to a dual exhaust to give it a more speedy look?

Is that possible?

yes it's possible ... you can get headers and run true duals or use a 'Y" pipe in front of the muffler and split it out to the other side

Is a true dual system going to add performance?

I don't believe a true dual exhaust on this motor will do anything but release too much backpressure, therefor losing performance. Assuming that you do it with an overall larger diameter than most aftermarket exhaust diameters that is.

I've only seen one done correctly the muffler shop used a smaller diameter pipe and duel cats ect to keep correct back pressure but with headers and piping he spent about $3000

Was that how Pete's got his done? Regardless, $3k is entirely tooooo much to spend on an exhaust system just for the looks because it won't gain but a tiny amount of power that won't even be noticeable.
