Transmission Flush & Replace Filter

Transmission Flush & Replace Filter
Hello, my wife has a 1998 Dodge Avenger 2.5L. Someone is going to come by and change the transmission fluid and replace the filter tommorow morning. I'm trying to figure out what parts to pickup today. He to pick up a screen/filter (he said its the same thing), about 8-9 quarts of trans fluid, and a quart of Trans X. Where can I find the Trans X? Also the car has about 173k miles on it, so I want to get a high mileage trans fluid. Is there somewhere I can find some gallon containers of fluid instead of buying loose quarts? And also whats the best kind of fluid to use? Is there something else that I should get?
Thanks

RE: Transmission Flush & Replace Filter
you can pick the filter up at a autoparts store around your area, like autozone advance auto etc... you can also get the tranny fluid there but make sure you only get ATF+3 or ATF+4 do not get anything but them as i hear our trannys need this fluid only, others will tear them up. im not sure on the trans-x stuff tho i was wondering about it my self. Maybe Badvenge or Silvercoupe can tell something on that..

RE: Transmission Flush & Replace Filter
I suggest MOPAR ATF only. It may be pricey but you only pay that once every, what, 75K miles? It's well worth it and don't put additives in the A604/41TE. Do it right the first time. Remember this...this guy that's coming in to CHANGE the fluid is not FLUSHING out the old stuff which means that there will be a mix of tranny fluid. Keep note if you use ATF+3 or +4 because you can't go to +4 then back to +4, but you can go from +3 to +4. Your best bet is to get +4 and stick with it. I will reiterate to use MOPAR ATF and not retail store fluids. Use what the factory uses. Obviously, you can use what you will, lol. I will just tell you from experience that these trannys don't like anything but MOPAR ATF.
