1999 Difference between ES and basic?
I tried to search to see if this has been asked and answered before, and couldn't find any posts that looked related. Sorry if this is a rerun...
I have a 1999 Avenger I want to sell. How can I tell whether I have the ES or the basic trim? What are the differences?
Thanks in advance for the info.

Until '99, base came with 4 cyl, and ES with V6, and ABS! But in '99, according to some sources they dropped the 4 cyl. I have 1998 ES with 6 cyl, leather, audio, roof.
Apparently they dropped the 4 cyl partway through the model year in '99.
When I try toprice the car value on Kelly Blue Book, whether I choose that it's basic or ES, it lets me select engine size.
ThenI did a VINquery, and it said that I have Basic. Then again, it said that it was a 4-dr sedan, and I don't think the Avenger hasever had a 4-dr, has it? (At least not the 2000- version)
I have the V6, but no ABS. The other stuff I read said that ABS was an option for the ES only (but that also says to me that it could be an ES even if it doesn't have ABS). So I'm still not completely sure.
Thanks.

Oh, ok -- I feel silly now. I haven't looked at the title in about 2 years, so I don't even remember what it says. As I'm getting ready to sell it, I'll have to dig the title out anyway.
Thanks for the info.

I have no clue I'm starting to wonder if I have a replacement from bumper. I seen a 95 it base model I4 auto no power to nothing an had a tape player and no spoiler. I have a 96 ES I4 manual. I have power everything and acd and tape playerbut the front bumber with foglights and a lil lip fo a spoiler. I've yet to seen anyone with my bumper. They had a sportpackaged version of our cars but I've seen no difference except for the spoiler. I heard they changed the bumbers to a more aggressive look with the 97 on up modles. They also had the ES sport which seems to just be a V6 with over drive? I guess the years and makes are not making anysense to me and makes looking for parts bad for the v6 guys and good for me cuz I just go to an eclispe.
OK, well maybe it's not as dumb a question as I thought at first.
My 1999 has V6, power windows, locks, mirrors, AM/FM/CD/Cassette, rear spoiler, alloy wheels, cruise.
No sunroof, no power seats, no leather, no ABS.
When I looked at KBB, there's a difference of $75 between the value of an ES vs. Basic (when I choose the same equipment I have on my car). The ES is more. Two items show up as standard in the ES -- cruise and alloy wheelsbut are options on the basic.
Still haven't dug out the title, so I'll wait and see what that says, I guess. I don't know what a front sway bar is or what it would look like, so unfortunately that doesn't help.
Mostly, I didn't want to advertise it as an ES if it's basic, and then have some gear-head give me a hard time for false advertising, because he knows that xxxx is on an ES and that's not on my car, and what else did you lie about... You get the idea.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
