I have a 2000 Dodge Avenger. When it reaches 50 mph a wining noise appears and when you reach 70 mph it quits. Can somebody help me?

 

I have the same problem with my 98 avenger too. My guess is that it is either the drivetrain (i.e. transmission) or the air intake. The butterfly valve on the intake that is controlled by throttle angle might be at the right angle to cause the whistling or whining sound. I noticed it also in the 30mph mark also.

 

chances are its the trans if it is auto which im assuming cause dodge has always had little annoying problems with their transmissions
