Default venge buring oil

Hello everyone, I have a 99 dodge avenger 6cyl currently sitting at 93,000 kms which is around 55,000 mi i belive. Recently my brother noticed while I was driving away blue smoke coming from the exaust tip. That usually means oil leak which also means $$$$ So i tried to get a closer look, left it running for a bit in the drive way, noticed no leaks from the engine to the floor so then its internal i guess. When its idling there is no smoke but when you rev it a little the blue smoke comes out. The smoke itself isnt thick at all but its there and its a grayish blue.
Talked to a mec on the phone and he said its gonna cost me around 1000-1500 CDN to fix . A friend suggested to check cylinder compression as it could be a leak from there, is that a possibility and how much (ball park estimate) would it be to fix that. I'm very affraid of driving it more because I dont want it to get worse but i've been told that this type of problem takes a while and hard driving to get bad. In terms of driving i'm usually trying to get the best milage possible and asides from the ocasional flooring here and there I dont push on it. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on this. Thank you.

Also i have noticed a very slight decrease in preformance lately as if it needs an oil change. I'm on castrol synthetic and its been 2,500kms since my last oil change, there is barly any change in oil levels but the oil is pretty dirty considering I should have another 2500kms to go on that oil change.

The compression check would be a good thing ...bad rings are one likely cause ....could also be bad valve seals ...
For that much $$$ I'd do a 3.0 swap instead

You and your 3.0L swap. LOL! Seems thats your answer to everthing. What is up with you and the 3.0L motor?

But I agree wit BV compression check easiest and cheapest.

its alot harder up north, i got a quote for an engine with 70k miles for $1100 which is rediulous considering that in the US you can find a low milage engine for aruond $600. When i got to the mech and tried to show him the problem there was no smoke, realized that its probably the O rings as they expand when the engine is warm and wont let in any oil then. Only thing is emissions test is comming up soon, was thinking of getting a no hasstle check if u know what i mean.

sounds like take the motor in warmed up .... warmed up= no smoke ... if you think it's the seals try an oil additive that expands seals
