Default ENGINE?

I have a question hopefully ill get a lot of input here its kind of important. I was thinking of buying a new 2.5L off of car-parts.com i noticed they had some engines pretty cheap but im unsure what to look for when buying an engine from a junk yard... My goal is to rebuild the engine and put all my engine mods in the new one and then when its finnished ill put it in..... what are the most important parts to make sure the engine is worth rebuilding? im guessing the block is the number one, where from there.... i dont want to get stuck with a junk engine thats not even worth messing with... please help me.

Get a 3.0 and do the motor swap far better $$$ spent ... I paid $600 shipped for a 6k mile motor ...
