wheel and tire sizes
i did some research but couldn't really find what i was looking for. i'm looking to upgrade from the 215/50/r17 to a 18' rim. i know the lug is 5 by 114.3 or something close. all i can find is 100. will these work? also what is the widest tire i can fit in the well without the tire rubbing the control arm? my buddy had an older talon and he had to put some kind of rubber spacer in the spring to fit a 245 or soemthing on his. maybe a 225? anyways what would be the ideal 18 combo for my 98 avenger es?

Take that link, insert the original tire size and then insert your wanted dimensions. You'll also note that if you go too far from the original size, your speedo will not read as accurate. I believe, for daily driving 8" was the widest you can go with, you have to keep in mind your steering radius too. The radius is pretty narrow as it is and if you go too wide of a track with too wide a rubber, it will rub something under there when you turn or hit bumps.
