Default Automatic door locks?

My 97 Avenger is full of quirks that after 2 years of ownership I'm still trying to understand here's one thats been on my mind:

Why do my doors sometimes re-lock themselves without my help? Its sort of a cool feature, but it doesn't happen all the time so I can't just park somewhere and be confident it will lock itself. Only sometimes does it happen.

I cant find anything in the manual so hopefully someone can explain what the deal is.

I have not done anything to the car related to entry and alarms so I just assume its all stock...so its a mystery

is there a way i can figure out for sure if its stock or if a previous owner added the keyless?

So that you can tell if it has the factory:

1 - Get in.
2 - Close the door.
3 - Lock the doors.
4 - Look for a green 'Security' light to come on in the dash.
5 - If it does, unlock the doors before the light goes out.
6 - Go grab a Mt Dew and enjoy the rest of your day.[/align]

There are sensors on the door lock cylinders out inside the doors unless those are intermittant or loose thats about all I can think of that would cause it ...
