front wheel bearing hub assembly
I need to replace my front wheel hub bearing assembly. The 4 bolts that hold it in from behind are nit accessible due to interference fromthe round shield for the drive axel. Not sure on how to remove this as I do not see bolts. I really do not want to break the clamp and take the rubeer boot off just to see if how its on if there is a better way. Does anyone know the best way to replace the hub assembly?
just replaced my passenger front bearing last weekend. unbolting the upper ball joint, taking the brake caliper off the caliper braket, removing the bolt from the bottom of the shock/strut,unbolting the stabalizer from the strut/shock assembly, taking the 12mm bolt out that holds the brake line to the steering nuckle assembly, and the 2 10mm bolts for the abs wire(if your car has abs) then unhooking the outer tie rod. you can push straight down and out on the nuckle assembly far enough to remove the axle from the bearing. and have it rest to the side out of the way. loosen the 4 bearing bolts untill they stick out about 1/8 inch then smack the bolt heads with a hammer to knock the bearing loose. then just loosen the bolts some more and smack them some more,loosen...smack..untill it is free. or if you dont care to hurt the probably already junk bearing. take the bolts completely out,and smack that bitch with a small sledge hammer. just have to make sure you hold on to the steering nuckle assembly on the top so when you smack the bearing, the lower ball joints dont get damaged.
