Just bought a 98 Avenger Es. Am trying to figure out why it idles rough. is throwing a map sensor code. have replaced but still runs rough. also trying to figure out how to program garage door opener on visor. any solutions appreciated.

 

I'd go get some seafoam and run that thru the intake first ...

To program: Hold down buttons 1 and 3 for 20 seconds (until something blinks). Then hold down the factory garage door button on the remote while holding down one of the buttons on the homelink (ie: programing that button with that garage code).

Last time my Avengeridled rough it was my TPS. Instead of changing the sensor I changed the entire throttle body with a good used one from the junkyard. It fixed the problem. I had several garages look at it and even had one garage do the induction cleaning service without any luck. So I wrote the tech editor to Mopar Action magazine and he suggested I change the TPS.

 

changing out the entire throttle body it could have been the IAC as well since it's part of the TB

 

I changed the IAC on the original TBbefore I changed the entire TB. It was easier just to change the entire TB instead ofmessing around with individual sensors on it.
