When you say "overheat" - how high does it get on the guage?

Did you check/replace the hoses that go from the engine to the overflow container - if one of those get crimped or collapse occasionaly, it looks like a bad water pump. Especially the one inside the overflow, how it bends, its easy to kink.

Did you check the compression? Are either of your headgaskets bad?

Next time when you are stopped or idleing and the car begins to overheat, shift it into neutral, and rev the engine up to around 2500 - 3000 rpms If you notice after 30-60 seconds that the temp begins to level off or drop then there is a god chance that the waterpump is beginning to fail.

You didn't say how high it gets when it "overheats" - and you'd be suprised what the dealership would all miss. I'd check it all myself.

The car will overheat all the way to the point I let it, but I always just pull over and turn it off. If I didnt turn it off im sure it would redline.
