I am working on a friends 98 avenger the radio stopped working and the fuse for the interior lights blows when you replace it also the car wont go over 4 mile per hr and gives codes of P0123 and P 1789 It spits and putters for about 30 minutes than it will go about 40 mile per hr. she told me she had a used PCM installed out of a sebring I did not think that could be done anyhow can you help thanks Wayne

 

Radio check the fuse under the hood it's in the yellow cage ...

Interior lights you must have a short , You'll have to track that yourself ...
Do you mean Gauge lights ??? Or door lights ???

I don't have my codes with me if you give me the readout from them I can tell you normal troubles ...
If she got a used PCM from a 97+ Sebring coupe it's the same ... If it was a 95/96 they are different

 

HI it,s the interior door lights and mirror lights the fuse is right next to the radio fuse and it blows imediately the radio wont wont at all fuse is Ok the codes wher P0123 TPS but I cant believ that that would cause the problem. the other code is P1789 which is a solonoid on the trani she said the problems occured after the used PCM
I quess I will have to try to track the dead short somehow one of the fuse terminals is grouned I checked it with an ohm meter thanks
