Default Engine Swap?

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I drive, or I guess I should say drove, a 1998 dodge avenger. Recently the timing belt broke and basically ruined everything. I don't really know much about cars but I just stumbled on this site and thought I would ask. I was wondering if this car is any good for an engine swap. What kind of engines fit into it and is it worth doing? Any help or response would be great. Thanks everyone.

I4 Manual - Easier to swap in the 4G63 Engine Found in the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX/GST, Plymouth Laser, and Eagle Talon. It comes with a Turbo from factory and you can easily All Wheel Drive the vehicle. A memeber by the name of Silvercoupe97 Has done this swap.

V6 auto - The 3.0L swap I don't know the engine code but I know its the Mitsubishi 3.0L Single Over Head Cam engine. The Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth 3.0L Dual Over Head Cam engine will NOT fit into our cars. Since Bad Venge Has already done this swap he can better inform you than I can.

I found this 4G63T engine. http://www.streetimports.com/product_details.asp?id=978. Does that look like a reasonable price? Also what kind of work is involved in changing the car to AWD? Thanks again for all the help.

from someone in the middle of a swap take my advice. buy a 4g63t SILVERTOP 7 BOLT!! not the red top out of the older mitsus. you can get the engine and trans with many accessories shipped direct from japan with less than 50k miles on it for around $2g. the reason i say get the 7 bolt is because that engine is the same (minus some internal changes) as the lancer evo engine. i can give a list of sites from best deals to worst if you want it or if anyone else wants it but you can just google jspec engines and find these sites. now if youre looking for a cheap engine just to get the car running just get another 420a from the junkyard or the older 6 bolt 4g63 but if youre like me and want something over the top (and why not) get the 7 bolt and rebuild it no matter what condition you get it in because theres no sense in putting that kind of $$ into your car just to have something stupid go horribly wrong.
