i am looking for a manual transmission for my 95 Avenger. i found one out of a Eclipse GS and was wondering if they will swap out ok? i thought they might being it is the same 420A motor in both of the cars, but the transmission numbers are different. i have a F5MC1 and the eclipse has a F5M31 in it. what is the difference? i am at a loss and i need some help.
Actually the 420A motor was used in the 2 generation eagle talons and Mitsubishi eclipses. The 4g63 motors were used in the 1 generation of those cars.
yes it would be out of a second gen eclipse. and i know they had the 420A engines in them because i have worked on many of them. i just don't know if the transmissions will work together. i would think they would but i have no clue to be honest...
hello virginia, so any tranny from a neon with a 420A engine would work, how about the links, clutch pedal, shifter, can you use the same ones from the neon or do have to use the eclipse ones
Just to set the record straight...420A motors were used in 2nd Gen NON-TURBO Eclipse and Talon models (and of course neons and avengers!). The 4G63 engine is the TURBO motors in both the Eclipse and Talon. The linkage from the eclipse should be exactly the same. The difference in numbers is probably because they come from two different car companies. All the parts I buy for my 95 Avenger, with the 420A, I buy parts listed as eclipse parts and sometimes even Galant. Finding a local performance shop would be the best option if your still unsure, those guys do a lot of mix-n-match stuff!
As for the tranny out of the GS...it should fit, no problem!
