Hey everyone! I recently bought a '96 Avenger, 2.0 auto. But unfortunately after having it only a couple months, I've managed to overheat it and blow the head gasket... at the least. I'm hoping neither the head or block are cracked, but I decided that if they are, I'll just swap out the whole heart of my beauty for a new one. My question is, will an engine and standard tranny from an eclipse/talon turbo bolt right in? I know I'll have to change ECU, exhaust and add in the clutch and what not, but my main concerns are the mounts and also the CV shafts. Would the eclipse/talon CV shafts be any longer or shorter? I'd love to have a turbo'd Avenger! That should keep those damn GM's and imports in line! Anyways, if anyone could give me an answer to my question, that'd be awesome. Thanx!

 

Well, I finally got everything apart and it turns out that my head and block are still good, although the headgasket was completely fried. So I won't be swapping any engines. Still, it'd be good to know for furture reference if anyone has swapped out these engines and how well it worked. Thanx again.

 

I haven't seen any, but it can be done. You would have to have many parts custom made for it most likely. Glad to hear that your engine is OK.

 

you can swap the 420a for a 4g63 turbo or actually ive heard ( if youve got the $$) a srt but it is a lotta work........stick with what u got at least for now
