Engine buildup: 4 vs. 6 cyl
So I have now located 2 salvage cars. One is another Sebring with the 2.5 v-6, the other is a Avenger with the 4 cyl. If you were to build a motor from scratch for max power, what would be the best? It is my understanding that the 4cyl Avenger engine is the EXact same engine as in an Eclipse. So I would think that there would be more afteramrket parts to build that motor really tough. And CHEAPER to boot !!! lol.
If YOU were starting from scratch, what would you do????
BTW: My Sebring is "making" engine oil. Not shure how that is happening! I changed the oil 150 miles ago, and it was dead-on the full mark. NOW it is about an inch over! WT.H.?????? So I am in fear of the worst on this one. If I have to pull that fracking motor, a STOUT one will take it's place! I have not even put 2000 miles on this car since I bought it!

OK. Since 17 people have looked at this, and no one seems to have an opinion, what is the deal with the 3.0L v-6 swap. Where can I get that engine from, and is it a good motor? What kind of HP can I get from a mildly built 3.0?
From what I have read on the Mitsubishi forum, the 4G63 with basic tuner parts rebuild is good for about 275 reliable hp. (turbo'd, of course) But then I hear horror stories of transmission falures! Sounds like I need to stick to Ford Mustangs for an 1/8th mile & 1/4 mile drag car!!! lol.
