Hi I have a 97 Avenger with the 2.5 auto and for some reason the 120 AMP ALT CHOKE fuse link in the box under the hood melted. I put a battery in it and checked all the wires I could see from the alt to the box and to the battery.Looks good. I put a REGULAR 1/4 DRIVE socket (ACTING AS A JUMPER) in the FUSE link to keep it running BECAUSE IT KEEPS BLOWING to check the volts. So far so good Except the socket got GLOWING hot. NO battery light has come on. I am at a loss on what would be drawing that much juice.. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you for your time..

 

What SOCKET is glowing ??? Hard to follow your post ...

 

The socket (1/4" ratchet drive socket) he stuck in where the fusible link was!
