Question New Avenger: love it or hate it?

I don't know about anyone else, but I was disappointed when the 1st generation Avenger was discontinued to be replaced by the 2 door "RT" Stratus Coupe. Don't get me wrong, I like the Stratus coupe just fine, but still....

Anyway, when I heard that the Avenger was being reintroduced, and replacing the Stratus altogether, I was both confused and excited. The confusion was cleared up when I saw the unveiling, and my excitement dropped to the floor.

Yes it looks nice, I'll give it that. But is it really an Avenger? It's also being referred to as the "Charger's little brother", which annoys me as well. The car deserves to be it's own vehicle, not an "affordable version" of another. It also, given it's sedan status and styling (being a 4 door), no longer fits the name Avenger. I won't buy one. Imagine if Chevrolet were to discontinue the Vette, only to reintroduce the same name in a 4 door sedan? I know, I know, the Avenger doesn't have the status of the Vette, or the history, but the comparison is still valid. A Corvette is a sports car, period. The Avenger is (or at least should be) a sports coupe ONLY.

My personal belief is that they should have kept the Stratus name on the "new Avenger", and reintroduced the Avenger as a redesigned sporty coupe; instead of flipping back and forth between the two every 4 or so years.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?
