possible fuel pump??
1997 2.5L ES
Driving down the road today and all of a sudden the car just shut itself off. went to turn it back on and it would just crank. i have noticed recently that my idle has been really bad since it is getting very cold here. when i would apply the gas and release it all the way the idle would almost drop all the way to 0 where the engine was barely running and would climb back up to normal. and Then today BANG it quits on me while im driving normal. got it towed back home and tried it again and it started after a few cranks. does this sound like a bad fuel pump.?

could be your throttle positioning sensor, mas, you can go to any autozone and rent a fuel pressure gauge, once you have it read the instructions, and look up the psi for you car. If the psi is low all the time there is a chance that its just a clogged line or filter, if it only drops when the engine idles down you should check the voltage on your fuel pump.
Well pull your back seat and then the cover and you can listen for the pump.Well I just went through about the same thing. Was not fuel pump or relays for fuel pump or ASD.I believe mine was the PCM so replaced that and the cam sensor and coil, as when I went to junk yard all parts where right there.I think I fixed my problem as it seems to be running ok now.I did notice when driving mine it would hicup somethimes and the battery and check engine light flickers for a second everytime the car hicuped.
