Slight squeal and smoke from near p.s. pump on 2.5L V6
Started it up this morning to let it warm up (its 30 degrees) and when i got back in it to drive, i heard a very slight squeal so i reved the engine and it went away. I drove about 2 miles to school and on the way i heard squaling again for a couple of seconds (i floored it and it went away). Right before i turned into the parking lot, the car started shaking and the idle was really low, about 3-400. I pulled into the lot with a weird squealing noise. Then it started smelling like something burning and my brother noticed smoke from the hood. I opened it and the smoke was coming from the p.s. pump or just under the pump. It also smelled like burning rubber. The coolant temp was about 75% on the gauge. Im thinking p.s. pump or serpentine belt. Can i drive it home? or to a shop? what should I do?
it wouldnt start after school. I had it towed to the shop and they said it sounded like the timing belt. when trying to start the car, the cams turned so it didnt snap. I must have jumped
The water pump seized. The timing belt did jump a few teeth but the valves were not bent. Its running good now, new timing belt, water pump and tensioner. The t. belt was melted to the tensioner.
