Default Downpipe/california/federal/exhaust/etc

Someone tell me the difference between federal and california exhausts on a 98 2.5L.

One has a one piece rear exhaust manifold/converter, one has a two piece rear manifold/converter.

One has a down pipe that has 3 o2 sensors in it, and one has a downpipe with only 2 o2 sensors in it (the third one is on the cat in the 2 part manifold/cat). Does only the one with 3 o2 sensors come with a cat in the downpipe/frontpipe too?

Which is which?

Right now i'm thinking the california one is the one with the two piece rear manifold/cat...correct?

I'm thinking it's the other way around. Mine has the 2 piece. I'm thinking the one piece would be cali to prevent removal or test pipes

Look at the emissions label under you hood and see if it says it meets federal or california emissions. Mine says federal and has the one piece.
