Default R/R CV axles 97 Avenger

I now find out that the CV axles on my 1997 Avenger ES 2.5 are bad. How difficult are they to replace. The dealer and some of the repair shops where I live want almost $700 to replace them. I do not think it should be that difficult but I may be wrong. How would one go about replacing them?

Thanks,

Glenn

get a service manual and follow the directions. if you can make a box cake, you can replace axles... it's all a matter of following directions and understanding terminology. you'll probably need to rent, beg, borrow, steal or buy some tools to complete the task.

even if you have to spend a couple hundred on tools and a couple hundred on axles, you've saved $300 plus then you'll have more tools which can be used to save more money in the future and even make money fixing stuff for people that are in the same situation you're in.

WOW talk about overcharging ... I called two local shops and was quoted $150 passenger side and $250 drivers

It's a fairly straight forward change out unledd the axles froze in the hub
