oil sending unit

we have a 2000 avenger, i was told that the oil sending unit was bad...i have no clue what or where that is or how much a new one will be. any help would be appreciated!!

You need to be more specific ... As there are 2 oil senders one runs the gauge the other the idiot light. I think either were under $25
