P1294 is Target idle not reached. basically it could be a vacuum leak causing a high idle, or a bad Idle Air control solenoid.

could either of those explain why my car sometimes just shuts off?

to explain the situation when this started happening i would be going down the road at 25-75mph and the rpms would go down to 0 then when i pull over it just suddenly starts back up by itself... please if you have any idea what this could be please help i have taken it to 4 mechanics and all of them replaced some parts they said could cause this happening...

btw thanks badvenge you have been very helpfull

Your symptom sounds more like a bad CKPS or CPS crank position sensor /cam position sensor
