I'm wondering if something could be causing my distributors 2.5l dodge avenger to go bad????? I have replaced it 4 times now and it just went out again.

Have you checked the PLUGS for oil ?
I'm guessing that they could be grounding out and killing the unit

I've never seen parts for them ....

you can get rebuilt ones and use it as a core ,
Or you could use an external MSD type unit
