I believe I have an aftermarket alarm on my 99 avenger (with an alarm panel below the dashboard, and a switch that supposedly toggles it on or off).

My remote all of a sudden can't disable the alarm, so when I unlock the door or trunk, the alarm goes off. I also can't start the car now because the alarm isn't disabled... The alarm toggle also doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to disable an alarm (probably aftermarket)? Can I unhook my batteries or something? Or is there some type of method, like turning the key to ignition for 3 seconds or something?

Many thanks... this is quite urgent since I'm supposed to pick-up my folks from the airport tomorrow.

 

I'd need a picture of the remote to see if it's a brand I recognize , have you tried new batteries ?

 

nvm, fixed the problem by disabling via valet mode.
