Automatic Transmission won't switch into reverse
 

I recently overhauled my 97 avenger after 2 years of sitting, and my transmission was having this problem a few months before it went out of commision. Transmission will not go into reverse. Is there any easy solution to fix this. I was thinking about replacing the Transmission Solenoid or the Powertrain ECU. Hoping that one of these may solve my problem.

Is there anyone that has ever had this type of problem. Please Help.

When you shift into reverse do you hear a "ratcheting" type clicking sound from under the hood ?

No. I did some research it came about the solenoid. Well. I just replaced it still the same

OK, I have another problem, I just replaced the Transmission Solenoid and it still soing the same thing. any other suggestions before I decide to, either, take it to the shop or replace it with a used one from the autowreckers.

I'd check voltages to the solenoid pack if you are not getting the ratchety sound that tells me the electronics are not giving the solenoids power

Yeah. Im getting the racheting sound.
