Default Head Lights on 98 Avenger

The headlite covers on 98 Avenger have moisture on inside. Can they be taken off and cleaned or do I have to replace the entire headlite units? If they do come off, how? Tricks to removing headlites? Thanks
Doug

There are several ways to remove the headlights ,

First is to remove the three bolts holding the headlight in ,
Next remove the front inner fender well on that side ,
Remove the 2 10mm bolts that hold on the front fascia to the fender , Be carefull as these bolts rust and break easily
This allows the bumper to droop to allow you to remove the lights with some effort
OR
First is to remove the three bolts holding the headlight in
Remove three or four bolts that hold the fender on from front to rear
(along the hood/fender gap)

This allows the corner to be CAREFULLY pried up to allow you to work the light out

To remove water you can do several things set the oven to the LOWEST setting you have ,remove the bulbs , covers and the metal clips ect and place on a backing tray in the middle of the oven , check every 10/15minutes till they look dry

Or use a heatgun and start heating the gap between the grey housing and the clear , keep working till the glue gets gooey and then pull them apart seperating the 2 halves

This allows you to clean the interior of the covers and get rid oof any moisture

Reheat the glue again and reinstall, I like to reseal with clear silicone RTV to prevent any future leaks

Also be sure there are rubber hoses on the end of the lights these run down from the top if they are missing this allows water in
