Is it easy to remove the sunroof on my 97 avenger. I need to have the sliding front visor recovered? It looks like the unit has to come out before the visor.

 

I read on another forum that you have to remove the whole head liner to remove the sunroof. I just need to recover the visor. Can I remove that easily without removing the head liner?

 

there are 4 torx bolts on the sunroof glass to remove to get the glass out then the cover can be removed from the track watch how you remove it to get it back correctly

 

Thanks. On mine there are 6 bolts. I opened the sunroof a little bit and removed the bolts and the glass came out easily. The visor is held in with spring loaded pins and it came out with no problems.

 

I was able to recover the shades with material from Jo Ann Fabrics and some permatex headliner spray from NAPA. My wife says it looks factory. Thats good enough for me. I wasn't able to use suede or fleece because the color wasn't available. I used regular material and it matches color and texture really well.
